Business Liaison

Position Summary: 

The Business Liaison is responsible for coordinating between C2 GPS and other business entities in implementing business and career services and programs to help job seekers access and obtain employment to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with skilled workers to meet their workforce needs that exceed business expectations.

Pay: $23.59 Hourly, or $49,000 Annually 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Promote available workforce programs and services and represent the Board and C2 GPS’ interests as needed to chambers of commerce, professional associations, economic development corporations, and similar entities.
  • Ensure the workforce system is appropriately engaging industry sectors to exceed business customer satisfaction standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Center management and staff to determine program effectiveness, identify opportunities and recommend actionable steps for continuous improvement in all activities to achieve performance outcomes.
  • Perform market research and monitor and analyze industry based data to identify industry trends and provide relevant reports/information with suggested recommendations to Center management and staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate staff industry sector hiring events and job fairs to include training on employability skills and career preparedness for the purpose of developing strong, job seeking, and job keeping skills.
  • Recruit industry-sector employees to participate in hiring events, job fairs, career fairs, and similar events. Events may be in-person and virtual.
  • Engage businesses in a variety of work-based training opportunities including On-the-Job Training, Subsidized Employment, Work Experience, and Workfare activities that result in full expenditure of allotted funds.
  • Prepare applicants for work-based training opportunities and ensure all pre-requisites for employment including assessment testing are completed if necessary.
  • Work with selected businesses seeking professional level talent and develop close relationships with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and specific key details regarding the positions they seek to fill.
  • Work closely and collaborate with other Center staff to identify and develop candidate pool for specific professional level positions.
  • Utilize internal and external databases to identify, screen/review resumes and credentials for appropriateness of skills, experience, and knowledge in relation to position requirements and refer qualified applicants in caseload to available job postings they are qualified for.
  • Provide applicants other career services, to include but not limited to, career mentorship and advising, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, salary guidance, and offer negotiations.
  • Ensure participants/applicants are fully registered in state labor exchange systems (i.e. WorkInTexas, Employ Florida, etc.) and resumes are posted and viewable by businesses utilizing the system, and assist participants/applicants with setting up Virtual recruiter in the labor exchange system.
  • Coordinate, attend and participate in recruiting events, job fairs, and networking events to keep informed of employment trends and labor market changes.
  • Organize and maintain accurate business and applicant records in customer relationship management and applicant tracking systems to support program and client/business relations.
  • Pursue professional and personal development opportunities through appropriate conferences, workshops, seminars, or webinars, and assist with workforce development community events as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and proof reading skills.
  • Desire and ability to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Possess strong collaboration skills to successfully engage, understand and respond to the needs of business accounts, and work in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to coach and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Possess strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle demanding deadlines, multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and employment recruiting practices
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and regulations related to employment and training programs, and resume and cover letter development.
  • Knowledge of the principles of program planning, design, and evaluation.
  • Ability to perform market research, monitor and analyze data.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or college in Business Administration, management, Human Resources or related field required.
  • One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
  • At least three (3) years experience in business development, organizational planning and development, human resource development, or closely related field.
  • Previous workforce development experience preferred.
  • This position must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical requirements include lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, bending, and walking to perform job scope. Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing.  Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Occasional driving and travel required. Flexible hours may be required.
